Expedition Costa Rica

Discover another side of Costa Rica on this expertly guided journey into remote wild realms
Costa Rica is one of the world’s supreme destinations for ecotourism. And it’s no wonder, because the natural wonders of Costa Rica are in a class all their own! So is this trip. It's a unique set of experiences that takes you into less-discovered realms of this adventure travel hotspot. We’ll hike, explore and float amid incredible biodiversity. We’ll also learn about the land and its people, tour a tropical fruit orchard, learn about local conservation efforts and search for the elusive and revered resplendent quetzal. It’s Costa Rica, full of wonders, and full of surprises.

  • Journey with our professional Expedition Leaders to Costa Rica’s south Pacific coast, an unspoiled region rarely seen by the casual tourist
  • Float the Sierpe River in search of monkeys, crocodiles and iguanas and look for quetzals in Talamanca’s cloud forests
  • Stay at authentic jungle lodges in Costa Rica's most pristine settings, where intimacy prevails
Location of Adventure
Costa Rica, Central America

Group Size Limit
Approximately 10 travelers
A very important feature of our Costa Rican eco tours is the limited group size, as off the beaten path nature expeditions are best experienced with smaller groups of travelers.

Included
Internal flight from San José to Golfito, accommodations, meals from dinner on Day 1 through breakfast on final day, bottled water, services of NHA Expedition Leader, local guides and lodge staff, most gratuities, airport transfers on Day 1 and final day, permits and entrance fees, all taxes.

Not Included
Travel to and from start and end point of trip, alcoholic beverages, some gratuities, passport and visa fees, optional activities, items of a personal nature (phone calls, laundry, etc.), airport and departure taxes, optional travel insurance.

Physical Requirements
Moderate / Flexible
We will take short- to medium-length walks over uneven terrain, over wet, slippery surfaces and steep inclines and with some altitude gain. We stress that all activities are optional. Travelers should be aware that the heat and humidity may be very high in Tiskita and Manuel Antonio and temperatures may be quite cold in the Talamanca mountains, especially at night.  Cerro de la Muerte is between 9,000 - 10,000 feet above sea level and roads throughtout the trip may be bumpy.

Important Information
This carefully designed Costa Rica expedition takes small groups of travelers on an intimate journey into three different ecosystems, offering a range of activities that give our guests a deep and unique view into this remarkable country. Some fairly long drives along good and not-so-good roads may be necessary.

Getting There & Getting Home
