Dennis Osorio was born and raised in Peru. His family is of Andean descent and Dennis spent his childhood traveling to Cusco, Machu Picchu and his grandparents’ farm, located at 13,000 feet in Puno. Inspired by family journeys between the coast and the Andes, Dennis became fascinated with wildlife and travel at a young age. Later, as a Peruvian Boy Scout he found deeper opportunities to explore the outdoors and learn and share knowledge with locals.
All those early experiences inspired him; however it was Dennis' first contact with the Amazon that defined what he wanted to do with his life. Dennis is an Expedition Leader on Nat Hab’s Great Amazon River Cruise, where he parlays his life skills and deep knowledge into a shared experience with our guests during each expedition.
Dennis earned a bachelor’s degree in tourism and business administration, and a master’s in hospitality and tourism management with a focus on sustainable tourism. He also trained as a safari guide in South Africa. During more than 20 years in the tourism industry, he has been a birding guide, environment and conservation manager, university teacher, expedition leader and participant in organized workshops and trainings regarding birding and ecotourism for local guides and park rangers in many rural regions of Peru.
