Family Canyons Adventure
A family safari through the American Southwest's greatest canyons!
Trip Overview
- Gape into the depths of the Grand Canyon and find the Colorado River a mile below
- Explore the maze of sandstone spires, pinnacles and hoodoos in Bryce Canyon
- Discover wildlife, western history and high-desert magic in Zion National Park
The canyon country of the American West has long held a mythical place in the annals of grand travel adventures. From John Wesley Powell to Mary Colter to Teddy Roosevelt, these rusty landscapes have beckoned intrepid pioneers as well as everyday explorers. No family will come away from a rose-hued sunrise at Bryce Canyon, or a night beneath the stars in Zion, or a hike along the Grand Canyon’s layered walls, without being changed in some way: moved, inspired, replenished, somehow richer for it. That’s the gift of our national parks, and these three are among the most generous givers.

Important Information about This Trip
On this trip we’ll see a side of the American Southwest that many tourists miss. The main goal of our Expedition Leaders, who have extensive experience exploring this region, is to get our travelers to less-visited areas away from crowds in order to experience the wildlife and natural grandeur of the canyon lands in the most remote and secluded manner possible. Specific dates cannot be booked with the National Parks until August (for the following year). Trip dates listed are likely to change slightly and will be confirmed at that time. Depending upon availability, itineraries may run in a different order.
Getting There & Getting Home You should arrive in time to join your group for an orientation at 6:00 pm on Day 1 in St. George, Utah. You are free to depart in the afternoon after 1:30 pm on the final day.
Age Limits on Family Adventures We generally welcome children ages 6 and older on all of our Family Trips. However, while some six-year-olds are well-suited for some or all of our Family adventures, others may not be ready for the requirements of group travel. For this reason, we believe it is more useful to consider this age limit a guideline rather than a hard and fast rule. We believe that you, as a parent or guardian, are best qualified to decide whether or not your child would enjoy the experience without compromising the comfort of others. We strongly encourage you to call our office to speak with an Adventure Travel Specialist about the specific requirements of the trip you're considering so that you can make an informed decision about your child's participation. We are unable to allow children younger than six on these scheduled departures due to safety regulations, physical limitations, and concerns regarding group dynamics.
