Family Tanzania Safari

A Specialized East Africa Safari Uniquely Arranged for Families
Anthropologist Richard Leakey once said that we feel an affinity for Africa because it’s in our blood. Africa is a place of ancient traditions, seasonal life passages, and long family lines. The progeny of ancient wildebeest still thunder across the Serengeti, as they have for centuries. On the first full day of your adventure, an early morning game drive will introduce you and your family to Africa! In the intimate and beautiful Arusha National Park, you may see antelope, African buffaloes, leopards, hyenas, baboons, colobus monkeys, giraffes, rhinos, elephants, and hippos. In the afternoon, you’ll visit a small village where a Natural Habitat Adventures guide is the mayor. You’ll be treated to an inside look at contemporary life in Tanzania. All of your Expedition Leaders and local guides on your Tanzania safari are knowledgeable experts on the country's flora and fauna. They are all also well versed in the area's local cultures. You’ll journey to the Ngorongoro Crater, one of the world’s true wildlife wonders. The animals in this specific area have taken on unique traits in their isolation from East Africa’s other wildlife. Your vehicle will arrive at the rim's gates at first light in order to maximize your privacy and enjoyment of the game drives. You’ll drive down the rim of the caldera to find an ecosystem replete with lions, cheetahs, rhinos, elephants, and zebras. Zoologists believe that a zebra's stripes act as a camouflage mechanism, helping the zebra to hide in grass. While that seems absurd considering that grass is neither white nor black, it is very effective against the zebra's main predator, the lion, who is colorblind.Unique to the crater is that the local Masai graze their cattle on the floor. You and your family may have a chance to hike into a Masai village. The Masai have maintained much of their culture and their traditions as cattle herders. In the Serengeti, your mobile tented camp will give your children one of the most exciting safari experiences available! Designed to allow you to immerse yourselves in an Africa of the past, these remarkable tents also offer plenty of comfort, with full beds and bedding, attached en suite bathrooms, and private verandahs, and are set where game viewing is at its best, away from other visitors as much as possible.Imagine your family members are adventurers such as Ernest Hemingway, Teddy Roosevelt, or even Louis Leakey perched on the porch of your tent, scanning the surrounding savanna. Then you’ll picture what it's like to stay in the mobile camp.During your time in the Serengeti, you may have the chance to view the famed Great Migration of wildebeests and zebras. It's also an ideal time to see the big cats.In Africa, fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, still trade stories around campfires and by the sides of rivers. Their tales are still punctuated, as they have been for eons, by the nightly, haunting yips of hyenas and the timbre of lion voices.Few people travel to Africa only once. The call of Africa is the call to come home, heard across the years. It’s the place where blood ties, and children come to know the affinity of family.
