Oliver's Camp

Location
Tarangire National Park, Tanzania

Steeped in the atmosphere of the East Africa safari camps of old, Oliver's Camp is set in a remote sector of southern Tarangire National Park among some of Africa's densest concentrations of wildlife. Established by pioneer Paul Oliver in 1992, this camp is for safari enthusiasts who want a genuine wilderness experience in one of the most uncrowded corners of East Africa. Off-road adventures, night drives, walking safaris, bush breakfasts and wilderness 'fly camps' are all on offer in this slice of untamed Tanzania – though they're typically off limits for guests in the busier, more standard national park settings to the north. Though far from the typical tourist circuit, this simple yet deluxe tented camp spares nothing in comfort, from hot showers to gourmet dining and conversation around a crackling campfire under the stars.  Ten classic, spacious canvas tents have en suite facilities with flush toilet, heavy wood furnishings and geometric-patterned woven rugs. The camp is partially powered by solar-generated electricity and is designed to blend in with its wild environs, making a minimal footprint on the wild land that envelops it.

Plantation Lodge

Location
Ngorongoro Highlands, Tanzania

Like a green oasis, Plantation Lodge rests within red-brown hills amid the vastness and quiet peace of East Africa. The lodge lies at the center of a working coffee, flower and cattle plantation, located in rolling green farmlands and lowland forest. Its 17 rooms in individual bungalows have separate sitting areas, wood-burning fireplaces and private verandas overlooking sizeable gardens and manicured lawns. Each is uniquely decorated with the owners’ fabulous collection of safari antiques and Tanzanian arts and crafts. The individually furnished rooms and suites offer an outstanding level of comfort and blend harmoniously into the flowering garden for the ultimate in a relaxed natural setting. The small size of this owner-run lodge, combined with its colonial-style charm, provides for a very intimate atmosphere, where personal attention and a concern for detail are evident at every turn. The lodge’s location promises maximum safari enjoyment: it is but a stone’s throw from the entrance to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a quick hop from Tarangire and Lake Manyara national parks, and just a short journey from the Serengeti.

Ubuntu Migration Camp

Location
Serengeti National Park, Tanzania

Ubuntu Camp is a deluxe mobile tented camp that travels with the natural flow of the wildebeest migration through the Serengeti ecosystem. Starting in December through the end of March, the camp is situated in the southern Serengeti's Ndutu region to witness the wildebeest gathering to drop their young. From May to mid-July the camp is placed in the western corridor to meet the migration on its turn north. From late July through mid-November the camp is positioned to intercept the migration in the northern Serengeti. The camp’s mobility allows us to follow the herds year-round, optimizing our chances to witness the migration and ensuring outstanding wildlife viewing at all times.

The camp is comprised of eight canvas tents with two lounge/dining areas. Each tent is either a twin or double (triples are also available) with toilets and safari-style bucket showers in en suite bathrooms. The open communal area surveys the plains, so you can enjoy wildlife viewing over a drink as you relax in the lounge or bar. The dining room, also set beneath canvas, offers a classic bush dining experience. And after dark, classic lanterns provide an atmospheric glow throughout the camp.

Guests will enjoy the ambience of this intimate, traditional canvas safari camp that's designed to provide a wild and authentic Serengeti experience as much as it does luxury and comfort. The close-knit Tanzanian camp staff ensures that personalized hospitality, excellent food, and a warm, relaxed environment define the essence of our Ubuntu Camp. And, since the staff follows the migration with our camp year-round, they are a font of detailed information about the wildlife and the overall experience.
