Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary
Spend an Extra Day in Entebbe with Orphaned and Rescued Chimpanzees
Spend an extra day visiting Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary and Entebbe Botanical Gardens. Ngamba Island in Lake Victoria is home to the Chimpanzee Sanctuary and Wildlife Conservation Trust, a leader in chimp-focused environmental conservation. The island’s 100 acres of forest provide habitat for rescued and orphaned chimpanzees. Through hosting visitors, the Trust promotes the understanding, appreciation and conservation of chimpanzees and their habitats to the wider public. A tour is also included of the Entebbe Botanical Gardens, established in 1898 on the shores of Lake Victoria and an enclave for myriad birdlife. The program takes place prior to each Great Primate Safari and Ultimate Primate Safari.
