Kliptown Youth Program Voluntourism
Provide positive support through enrichment activities for children in Soweto
This engaging voluntourism experience is designed to provide an understanding of the issues facing residents of South Africa's townships, as well as a chance to work with South African school children in one of the country's most historic and economically challenged townships. The Kliptown Youth Program (KYP) is a community-based after-school program that provides educational support and positive activities to redirect the lives of disadvantaged kids. KYP was founded in 2007 by a small group of inspired young people from Kliptown who wanted to make a lasting difference in their community. Visitors will come away from this full-day immersion with historical perspective, greater awareness of South Africa's political and economic challenges, and warm memories of time spent with the kids of Kliptown.
