A Level-3 certified guide, Haukur Sigurdsson has been working as an all-around outdoor guide since 2005, leading kayaking, skiing, trekking and sailing trips mostly in his native Iceland but also in Greenland and Norway. He spent three years backpacking around the world and loved every minute of it, but through that experience he discovered that his real passion lies in the Arctic region where he grew up. Haukur speaks five languages and holds a master’s degree in visual anthropology; the focus of his study was on the relationship between the humans and the arctic fox. He is a member of the Icelandic search and rescue team and has extensive wilderness survival training. Haukur is an avid photographer and is eager to learn and share his experiences in the High North.
