Polar Star
Antarctica
The powerful M/V Polar Star, with its icebreaker hull, is capable of reaching places that others cannot. In 2000 the ship was completely retrofitted and upgraded specifically for expedition cruising. She accommodates 100 travelers in 48 outside cabins, most with large windows, some with private facilities. Outside decks grace her exterior from bow to stern, allowing for unsurpassed outside viewing. The ship’s open bridge policy allows guests to observe ship operations and navigation in action. The observation lounge has large panoramic windows starboard, aft and port. Other public areas include a dining room, cozy bar, and well-stocked library. The ship’s mini-gym and gift shop offer activities during sea crossings.
With only 100 passengers, everyone can go ashore together so there is no need for shifts or time limitation ashore.
