Posada Rancho Cerro Largo

Location
San Agustinillo, Oaxaca, Mexico

Posada Rancho Cerro Largo enjoys a truly spectacular location atop a bluff with sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean. This simple, hospitable ecolodge features rustic yet comfortable accommodations in individual thatched casitas. Constructed with local materials in a highly sustainable manner, the spacious casitas are perched on a cliff overlooking the sea and open to the ocean breeze, with the sound of the surf below close enough to lull you to sleep at night. Ceiling fans are also provided for cooling. Each casita has a detached private bath with dry cedar-chip toilet and bucket shower. Shaded hammocks offer a tranquil spot to relax, while seating on various terraces and overlooks provides additional panoramas of the ocean and coastline. The beach below is accessible via a steep and uneven footpath. Locally sourced and home-cooked meals are served in the dining room, including excellent home-baked bread and granola.

Hotel Santa Fe

Location
Puerto Escondido, Mexico

Located in a laid-back surfing town on Oaxaca's white sand coast, the beachfront Hotel Santa Fe offers a chance to relax in 4-star style. Sixty guest rooms exude colonial ambience, with stucco walls, tile floors, heavy wooden headboards, hand-woven drapes and wrought-iron accents. En suite bathrooms feature hand-painted tiles. All rooms have satellite TV, free Wi-Fi and a private balcony surveying lush tropical gardens. The gorgeous grounds invite relaxation, with two swimming pools, tiled terraces and shade palapas with hammocks cooled by sea breezes. The open-air restaurant set under a large palapa overlooking the ocean enjoys widespread acclaim. The chef and staff create a wide variety of international dishes, including excellent fresh local seafood, vegetarian and vegan cuisine. Breakfasts feature home-baked goods and coffee roasted on site.
