Churchill: An Arctic Summer
Discover an Abundance of Wildlife on This Accessible Arctic Expedition
Few of nature’s marvels match the intense aliveness of an Arctic summer. In a region frozen, still and dark for much of the year, the Far North awakens with a burst of energy during these long days when the tundra turns green, animals come forth in great flocks and herds, and the sea welcomes thousands of beluga whales back for their summer feasting. With the remote outpost of Churchill as our base on the edge of Hudson Bay, we are part of the excitement, surrounded by a flurry of natural wonders that only a northern summer can provide.

- Join our world-class Expedition Leaders in search of caribou, arctic fox, snowy owls and polar bears near the shore of Hudson Bay

Important Information
In the summer, Churchill comes to life with a carpet of wildflowers on the tundra, caribou migration and abundant birdlife. Perhaps most impressive is the migration of some 3,000 beluga whales into the Seal and Churchill rivers, where we observe these ghost-like creatures often within arm’s length. We may also have chances to view mother polar bears and their cubs, as they remain in the area all summer long. Be aware that at times black flies or mosquitoes may be present. Because we arrange our activities to avoid them as much as possible, they are generally not a problem. Train timetables are unconfirmed until shortly before each departure. Changes to train schedules may affect our itinerary on Days 2 - 4. On one departure per season, we do not take the train between Winnipeg and Churchill and instead, fly round trip. The Churchill inclusions on this fly/fly departure are identical to our regular itinerary.
