Classic Antarctica Expedition

Discover the Antarctic Wilderness Aboard One of Our Carefully Chosen Ships
Antarctica just may be the ultimate land for discovery and adventure. The towering blue glaciers, azure waters, and shores teeming with life have always called to intrepid explorers.Once you have arrived in Antarctica, your Expedition Team will attempt an average of two landings per day by an onboard fleet of Zodiacs. Many factors influence the daily program, such as prevailing winds, ice, and wildlife behavior. There will be leisurely, Zodiac sightseeing cruises past giant icebergs and wildlife on the rocky shoreline. Imagine being welcomed to a penguin rookery by a committee of thousands of chattering birds.Much of the wildlife is curious enough to approach travelers, making for some incredible photo opportunities.Though penguins may be the continent’s most famous residents, the variety of incredible wildlife here might surprise you. These graceful leopard seals grow up to 12 feet long and are a thrilling sight.A wide variety of whale species thrive in these Antarctica waters and you are sure to spot plenty from the deck along the way.The scenery of this remote continent is as remarkable as its wildlife. Don your parka and join fellow travelers on the deck as you sail through the Gerlache Strait or along the Danco Coast, past glacier-covered mountains that shoot to the sky.Majestic icebergs will become increasingly abundant as we approach the peninsula.Your expedition will be filled with in-depth educational programs. A historian may recount the development of the region, pointing out the remains of buildings where spies dwelled or a doctor went mad. The ornithologist may take you ashore and help you identify different species of birds. You may even cruise with a glaciologist through a bay filled with fantastically colored icebergs. On your return to Ushuaia across the Drake Passage, you'll be struck by the thrill of knowing you are one of the people in the world that have set foot on Antarctica. The images of your expedition will stay with you forever. The lure of Antarctica is a strong one. And like the famed explorers before you who have made several expeditions to this land, you'll be left with a longing to return.
