Picture thousands of wildebeest, thundering across the Serengeti, from horizon to horizon. Imagine a line of animals with no apparent end. This is the Great African Migration!

And this is the most incredible time of year to be in the Serengeti. The large wildebeest and zebra herds are migrating in search of the new grass created by the short rains.

Begin your adventure with an exploration of the wildest reaches of the Serengeti aboard private, four-wheel-drive vehicles. Lions, leopards, hyenas, wildebeests, and zebras are breathtaking sights on the African plains.

Thousands of wildebeest and zebras take part in the great migration. The wildebeest prefer short grasses to graze on and are in constant search for greener, lusher pastures as the seasons change.

You'll stay in and have exclusive use of Natural Habitat Adventures' Private Luxury Mobile Tented Camps. These camps provide you with privacy and seclusion from the crowds and are in the best locations for experiencing the migration.

In the Serengeti, you'll take daily game drives and have the opportunity to participate in game walks and night drives. You'll even visit with local Masai in order to learn more about their culture.

Ninety percent of the female wildebeests drop their calves within a three-week period of time, swelling the herd by more than 750,000 animals. You'll be able to witness stunning predator/prey interactions.

Hippos have been surprising naturalists for years. From their relationships with birds to the ability to communicate underwater, these mammals will intrigue you as well. Did you know a hippo secretes a natural sunscreen substance that turns red-orange within minutes? The light absorption of both pigments is in the ultraviolet range, creating a sunscreen effect.

Remarkable animals, striking mountains, an immense, dramatic sky. This is the classic African safari!

Stories and African tales from your Expedition Leaders — and your own reflections from the day's adventures — can be told around the campfire at night.
