Chobe River, Namibia & Botswana
Forty miles upriver from Victoria Falls, another magical African river experience awaits aboard the Chobe Princess. This privately chartered luxury houseboat is for our exclusive use, departing from the very point where Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe meet. Traveling the waterways near the confluence of the Chobe and Zambezi rivers, the Chobe Princess offers a rare water-based safari experience, with unparalleled wilderness views from the panoramic windows and shaded sun deck. The pace is leisurely, with an unscripted route directed by the movements of wildlife abundant in the region—more than 100,000 elephants alone! The passing tableau also includes lots of hippos and crocodiles, as well as Chobe National Park’s impressive array of buffalo, baboons, antelope and more. In addition to game viewing, guests can enjoy birdwatching, nature photography, fishing, a village visit and walks ashore.
Our 5-suite vessel offers the choice of king or twin bed configurations. Crisply decorated with contemporary flair in a palette of white, dove gray and chartreuse, the boat's interior make the most of its river setting with large picture windows and sliding glass doors in the cabins that provide your own private view of the ever-changing landscape before you. Large sliding windows with gauze screens let the fresh air in but keep mosquitos out. All cabins have en suite bathrooms with a modern shower, toilet and hand basin and bath amenities including soap, shampoo, shower gel, body lotion, insect repellent and a vanity kit. Hair dryers are available on request.
Climbing the stairs, you reach the upper deck, where a spacious lounge and bar area invites you to relax, lie back and drink in the sublime vistas passing by. There’s a relaxed open-air dining area as well as a plunge pool for a cooling dip. And you can even recharge your iPod or iPhone on the docking station. When it comes to a comfortable way to experience one of Africa's most captivating river environments, while at the same time enjoying the wilderness ambience of yore, you've found it aboard the Chobe Princess.
