Karen Blixen Coffee Garden & Cottages, situated in an upscale suburb of Kenya’s capital city Nairobi, welcomes guests on their way to or from safari. Its location approximately 30 minutes from both Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and the downtown area makes it an ideal site. Guests at the Cottages have the unique opportunity to experience a bit of history while relaxing among modern comforts.

The original 1906 farmhouse that was Blixen's home has been renovated as a lounge where meals, tea and cocktails are served throughout the day. The property also features additional indoor and outdoor dining and bar areas, beautiful formal gardens, a swimming pool, a small business center, and a gift shop. Each of the 12 cottages includes high beamed ceilings, a fireplace, veranda, private en-suite facilities with shower and bath, satellite television, and Internet and phone connections. Surrounding the cottages are the Karen Blixen Coffee Gardens, one of the oldest formal gardens in Kenya. The 5-1/2 acres are filled with century-old trees including huge jacaranda, candelabra, cactus and bottlebrush trees, a multitude of plants and more than 200 varieties of blooming flowers. Numerous bird feeders situated throughout the gardens attract hundreds of different bird species.
