BOULDER, CO, Aug. 19, 2015
– International luxury travel network Virtuoso recently recognized Natural Habitat Adventures
as a winner of its prestigious Virtuoso Awards honoring the network’s finest travel advisors, agencies and preferred partners.
Nat Hab was singled out for its leadership role in sustainable tourism
“We are thrilled to receive this distinguished award. Since our inception in 1985, Natural Habitat Adventures has strived to be a global leader in sustainable travel and ecotourism. Our commitment to these principles runs deep within our company ethos and is manifested throughout our office and field operations. We’re proud to have initiated a number of “industry firsts,” and we continue to push our company and our partners to be sustainability leaders,” said Ted Martens, Vice President of Marketing & Sustainability.
The award recognizes Nat Hab's leadership and commitment to sustainable tourism principles and practices, including the company’s innovative partnership with World Wildlife Fund
, their Carbon Pollution Reduction
program, the introduction of the planet's first hybrid safari truck, and support of local communities through the Natural Habitat Foundation
The awards were announced at its gala dinner on Aug. 13 at Bellagio Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, which closed the 27th annual Virtuoso Travel Week conference. Hosted by Virtuoso Chairman and CEO Matthew D. Upchurch, the gala attracted more than 2,700 attendees, including some of the biggest names in luxury travel.
The Virtuoso Awards allow travel industry peers to recognize each other’s accomplishments. The network’s travel providers vote for agencies and advisors, while agency members vote for preferred suppliers. This year Virtuoso received more than 12,000 votes from advisors and suppliers.
“Virtuoso’s selective acceptance process means that only the world’s top travel professionals are part of our network,” Upchurch said. “Because of that, the peer-to-peer Virtuoso Awards are an especially valued industry recognition.”
