Eric Rock
Eric is NHPE’s lead naturalist, and as such is well versed in a wide range of adventures and photo destinations worldwide. Eric's interest in photography started as a teenager when he purchased a 35mm camera with his first paycheck from a summer job. He immediately began exploring the forest, rivers and mountains around his boyhood home in western Pennsylvania and was successful in publishing photographs in local magazines and newspapers while still attending high school. During college at University of Alaska, Eric continued to explore his local surroundings - camera always in hand. His work caught the attention of photographer Charles Mason, and through his mentoring, Eric's passion for photography continued to evolve. After pursuing an education in wildlife biology, Eric made the decision to share his passion and knowledge for nature and photography by guiding nature and photo tours as a career.
